The Users

SUDHISH
Most tailors are not updated, thus they are not able to understand my trending customization needs.

JANANI
Not all tailors accept maternity orders. I visited 3 tailors in search of someone who could create a custom maternity outfit. However, they were all too busy and not equipped for the task.

SIVA
Dealing with the tailors has made me feel very uncomfortable, as their unprofessional behavior towards me in the past has been quite challenging.

VIJI
My son's wedding is coming up, and I need to have an expensive saree blouse stitched. However, the tailor I usually go to is very busy due to the upcoming festival, so I am doubtful if he will be able to keep his promise.
Key Interview Insights
Create an experience that extends beyond just finding a reliable tailor to include streamlined cost and delivery dates.
There needs to be innovation to allow for easier customization of outfits, providing immediate results for judging the customization. This will improve communication with the tailor and provide better clarity on the output.
Create an experience that goes beyond just customizing the clothing, but also includes alterations after the output.
Just because every service can be accessed from your home with a click on your mobile doesn't mean personalized services are so.
The follow-up process contributes significantly to the stress associated with the customization process with the tailor. Switching to more timely updates on the service will make a substantial difference.
Current trends in customized clothing primarily serve the affluent, making them inaccessible to the lower class who have more pressing concerns.
Competitive Analysis
Custom clothing apps do exist today. However, finding an app that allows complete customization and personalization in real time. A review of these apps shows there's an opportunity to create a dynamic tool that serves this purpose effectively. Most current clothing apps are limited and hard for users to use because they don't provide clear outcomes.

After conducting interviews and secondary research, I discovered that the process of custom clothing poses significant challenges for both the customer and the tailor. In order to gain more insight into the issues surrounding custom clothing and the tailoring process, a survey has been launched.

Have you ever used any online custom tailor apps like
CloudTailor or Bombay Shirt Company before?

Have you ever visited a tailor to customize your outfit?

Which do you consider to be a more ideal custom tailoring service time?
7 - 10 Days (or) 10 - 15 Days for a shirt

Do you find yourself opting for tailored outfits rather than ready-made ones if the process is much easier and the outcome is accurate?
80% of the participants were between 22 and 40 years old, and 65% were female. Almost all of them expressed a desire to have customized outfits, but the majority didn't prefer them due to the cumbersome process involved. However, they do frequently alter their ready-made outfits. Most participants indicated that they would be willing to wait a few extra days for a perfectly tailored outfit, but a vast majority also favored ready-made outfits for their quick and convenient availability.
Many people have experienced frustrating tailoring experiences. Users expressed frustration with the lack of transparency in tailoring processes, pricing, delivery dates, and the quality of the finished product. They often felt uncertain about the outcome of their outfits and were dissatisfied with poor customer service. However, they appreciate the uniqueness and personalization of tailored clothing and the comfort of having something customized rather than conforming to mass-produced items.

Research Conclusions
After conducting research, I have identified three basic user needs for our product

- Streamline and provide transparency throughout the process of customizing outfits.
- Provide instant and clearer visualization of the customized outfit to improve communication with the tailors.
- Find and schedule a tailor to visit the user's doorstep for an advanced user experience.

Based on these insights, I created User Persona, developed the user journey, and eventually built our final product, Stitch-me.

User Flow
Wireframing

Low-Fidelity
Two different versions of low-fidelity prototypes were designed using Figma. The two versions follow the same user flow but with different UI elements, such as layout changes.

Usability Testing
I revisited my users to collect feedback. To assess the effectiveness and user-friendliness of our app, I conducted Think-Aloud sessions to understand how the design ideas were perceived.

Think-Aloud sessions require users to complete tasks while verbalizing their thought process, which helps us navigate an interactive prototype. This method allowed us to gain insights into the usability of the Stitch-me app.
